Elaine Bishop

You are here: Home / Share the Gifts – Honour the Treaties / About Us / Who We Are / Elaine Bishop

Elaine Bishop, a Quaker and retired social worker, lives in North Point Douglas, Winnipeg, Treaty 1 territory and homeland of the Metis Nation.  Since retirement she has served on volunteer boards of community organizations while continuing her work in solidarity with Indigenous peoples and issues, increasingly addressing issues of the roles of Settlers and Newcomers as members of Treaty.  She has served Quakers in Canada and Scotland in paid and volunteer positions including being the peace and social justice coordinator for Canadian Quakers.  She spent four years living with and working for the Lubicon Cree Nation on their then unceded territory in northern Alberta.  Born in England she is a White immigrant.  She enjoys growing vegetables and encouraging bees to share her garden.
